RE: BME G.90 gas
My BME version installed ok with a cowl on the Tiger Moth ARF from Great Planes, but I did have to remove a bit of the front just where the corner of the carb comes close to the spinner backplate. I also made an spacer out of 1/8 aluminum which I placed on the prop drive washer moving spinner and prop forward by 1/8 inch.

A little bump up to the top...
What kind of prop were you spinning ken? Have you had a chance to run any other props/numbers?
I'm interested in tryin this out on a 60 sized sport plane...

Think a 15x6 or a 16x4w would choke it down too much or would it still be good for 9200-9300 (for the 15x6 anyway)?

RE: BME G.90 gas
Yesterday I flew my Great Planes Tiger Moth with BME .90 gas installed. I am very impressed. This engine has more that enough power to fly the Moth scale like plus some. Very smooth, idles well and sounds great. Most of the flight can be at about half throttle. I am using a 14/6 K series Master Screw prop. Before all you 3 D fanatics have a stroke because this airplane won,t hover, let ,me ask you when was the last time you saw a full scale aircrat hover inches above the ground in a vertical attitude? You guys should stick to your toy-like electric foamies.
Anyway the BME .90 is a keeper!

What is the flying weight of your Tiger Moth?
What is the flying weight of your Tiger Moth?
The Tiger Moth comes in around 10 1/2 lbs on the towerhobbies website, so I imagine it weighs a little bit more than that with the BME in it. I wouldn't expect huge performance with it. I wonder how it would be in something like the Phoenix Extra 330, which weighs around 7 1/2lbs or so. Of course, assuming it would balance ok without the use of (a lot) of lead.
I'm more interested in this engine for a run-about airplane rather than a hyper aerobatic machine.

RE: BME G.90 gas
Great Planes Tiger Moth weighs 11 and 3/4 lbs. minus fuel. This includes a 6 volt, 1200 mah Nickel Metal hydride flight pack and a 4.8 volt 1200 mah Nickel Metal hydride ignition pack. The BME .90 is using a falkon ignition module as supplied by BME. I am still tweaking flight trim ie; adding a little rudder coupling with ailerons. Increasing elevator throw, moved ignition battery back a station in the nose to get CG slightly rearward etc. This airplane is a ***** cat!! Not a Tiger!
Since carb sits on an angle, one corner is pretty far forward, so I had to open up cowl slightly on the nose just below spinner. Also enlarged air intake in front of cowl since I have to manually set the choke for starting. Incidentially my engine likes to be wet to start. Since engine is inverted, I have inverted Slim Line Pitts on it. had to cut a 1/2 by 1/2" spot on cowl for front of muffler box. Since cowl is black extra opening doen,t detract at all. If I can figure out how to get you guys a picture posted, I will!
This combo is a keeper and I can,t say enough good things about Keith at BME, he is really helpful!!

You could put it here if it isn't bigger than 100MB. Just copy it off the disc to your desktop and follow the instructions on this site.

RE: BME G.90 gas
I have one in a Great Planes Tiger Moth. Great engine, lots of power reliable and easy to start. Have about one gallon of 32: l mix with STIHL 2 cycle oil through it. Only problem I had was a bad sensor that reads the magnet on crankshaft when I tried to start it the first time. I called Keith Baker and about two days later I had a new one. Started rifht up after that. BME is a great company. with excellent service!!

RE: BME G.90 gas
I recently purchased a new BME G90 from a person on the forum. I ask him for any manuals or paper work for the G90 and he said he recived it the way he sent it to me. I emailed BME a week ago for any help and have not recieved a reply.I have what I think is a lot of money in this little jewel and I do want to break it in right. The only info I have on thi G90 is to run 50:1 after break in. I would be grateful for any info on this engine. Thanks in advance. Tony

IIRC, BME is no more. You own an orphan. I wish I still had mine.
Gas engines are not that complicated. Just burn the fuel/oil mix the manufacturer recommended at 200 rpm down from absolute peak on top end and have fun. No ritualistic long drawn-out break-in as with glow engines. Even when built from glow engines. Alcohol has no lubricity to speak of. Gasoline does. Not to worry.
If anyone has one of these that they want to swap for a NIB Version 1 DL-50, shoot me a PM.
