Default Can I cut down a prop?

Hi.
I have a ZDZ 160 with a 3W 32X10 prop on it, and I think the prop is a little on the heavy side RPM vise. (5050 rpm's) Can I cut the tips a little, and reshape them and still get a good result? I was hoping to be able to rise the RPM's to around 5900- 6000, and I don't have time to wait for a new prop to arrive I want to fly NOW

Next time I will try a Menz 30X10 and see what it will give.

Thank you
Steinar

In every wood prop, there lurks a smaller better prop. Just take no chances concerning balance, taking into account masses as well as aerodynamic loads; (blade shape, AoA etc.)

Carbon reinforced props can only be very slightly shortened, since they are hollow.

I turned my 23x8 wood Bolly into a 22x8 with good results. Picked up about 600 rpm if I recall. Don't see why it wouldn't work with the bigger stuff. Like preivers said, just be sure to rebalance real good.......
