Default Engine ID?

I think this may be an A&M 2.2. What do you think? I measured the bore and stroke and it is approximately 2.2 cu in. If it is an A&M, does it have a Sachs-Dolmar crank or an A&M crank? How do I tell. It has excellent compression and what appears to be a C&H brown box ignition without the label. This afternoon I set up the timing for 28 degrees btdc and 0 degrees btdc at minimum throttle.

Any opinions, good or bad, will be appreciated.

Look in the hub, the end of an A&M crank will be smooth, the end of a Sachs crank will have a small hole in the center...Look at the con rod, a Sachs rod will be copper color, an A&M rod is aluminum or steel color with machining marks on the surface...A&M merely OK, Sachs great..
It will run the same either way, just way longer with the Sachs crank....

Thanks for the info Ralph. Obviously, from what you said, it is an A&M crank because it has no small hole in the center. See photo. No problem though, I inherited this engine so I think I'll see what it will do.

Yup, A&M....The smaller ones like yours had the least trouble...The A&M cranks are easier to bend, but that makes them easier to straighten...Should last a long time and run well..
