Default G62 and custom muffler for TF P-51

One of my projects this year is the Top Flite P-51 ARF. I'm putting a lightened G62 from RC IGNITION in it and had Kelvin at Keleo. I'm very impressed with the quality of Kelvin's work. This combined with Ralph Cunninghams G62 should be a winner not to mention look and sound great!

Looks great! How much does the engine weigh?

The engine is 4 lbs without muffler. Haven't weighed the muffler but it is super light.

Very Nice Alan. Now don't forget to show the complete package when done.

Have you considered using the remote carb extension to see how it might fit inside the cowl...I want this exact setup with the remote carb. Glad to see that Keleo has the exhaust now for the TF-P-51.

Can't wait to hear and see your updates

I have considered using the bent carb extension sold by Tony Clark. Is that the device you are referring to? I bought one last year and just need to find it. I moved after buying the ARF and accessories and am still setting up shop. I hope to be able to do some work on this plane in the near future.

Kelvin has actually had mufflers for the TF P-51 for some time now but just not for the G62. I think he has like a setup for the DA50, US 41, Moki, Revolution 52 and ZDZ40.

Yeah, thats the one from Toni Clark. Would you mind letting me know how it works. Like I said before, you are putting together the exact set up I would like. I have the kit and am starting to collect items slowly for the build.

Thats completely understandable...but just so you know, I'm waiting on you! No pressure here My buddy doesn't want me to put a G-62 in mine because he thinks its too big since he flies his on a ZDZ40. I want you to show him how good this combo is going to look.

BirdDog,
Sorry to wear you out but I have another question. Did you have to take into consideration using a prop extension when ordering the Keleo exhaust? I would imagine that where the engine sits in the cowl has an impact on how Keleo designs the exhaust so that it sits properly in the cowl.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave, I had the muffler custom built to match my engine. I also had the prop hub custom lengthened to try and put the engine as far back in the cowl as possible. So the answer to your question is in a way yes. Lets just say the muffler is very much custom and would have to be altered to fit another G62. I sent the engine to Kelvin and he made the measurements.
