BME-55 Still on schedule?
Anybody know?
Gonna be the end of April in two more weeks and my birthday is just around the corner.
If there are any updates on delivery, I would appreciate it.

Doubtful....the DA50 seems to be already competing effectively with most folks DA75...no reason at all for DA to make such a beast. DA should make a DA-84 that weighs the same as the other engines in the 70 class.

I would think a light 80 something by anyone would be perfect. There are a lot of 80's out, but all are heavier than the 110. Price comes into play with the twins though. A light single 80 something would let a lot of people move up to larger planes that normally could not.
Oh, back to the question. I "believe" they are still on schedule.

A light 81, 82, 83, 84-ish would make DA the done, completely done, marketplace gorilla. The other manufacturers need to hope they are not that smart.

See the latest ZDZ80.
See the latest ZDZ80.
BME 110-------3.9lbs
BME 55--------2.1lbs
It looks like planes are being built in 50cc, 80cc, 100cc and 150cc range now, or at least a lot of ARF's are.
The Chinese are starting to roll out a few engines......Quality unknown........watch out...

It's very easy, and nobody needs posting smart remarks:
To check on the BME55X, call BME and ask (I was told late April, early May). I am probably among the first 10% on the list, since I've been on it for a couple of years, so if you're further down on the list, it will take some time.
To check on the DA75 (or 80 something), call DA and ask. And I held a DA75 in my hands in January of 2005 by the way.

The issue being if these things are going to be ready by end of this month....I would think some folks would have received phone calls instead of having to make them by now wouldn't they have? Or, are you saying the process is all of us should start calling them now saying ok go ahead and send mine....?

Hopefully they will be on schedule and we'll see them in about a month. My guess would be closer to September/October and that's fine if that's what it takes. When they are released they will be the lightest in the class. If it doesn't shake more than a Saito 180 it will be GREAT!!! Time will tell.

RE: BME-55 Still on schedule?
I asked Keith in an e-mail recently what the delivery date was going to be. He really could not give a definite date. This was because the crank shaft manufacturer was not 100% sure when they were going to deliver the cranks to him[]

That was the original hold up.... I can't understand though why a manufacturer can't give you a date. My customers eat my alive if I don't tell when I'm going to deliver something and exactly how much its going to cost. I'm in the wrong business. [>:]

I am sure he is plenty P.O.'d, I think Keith knows what happens when you announce delivery on an engine and it does not happen, he went thru that mess with the 115.

I should be up among the first with CAPtain232 to get a call about MY 55X he he. I don't have a plane sitting waiting for this engine, so I'm not in as much a hurry as I get the idea some others are he he.
