I have two NIB gas engines that are 9 yrs old. One is a 25cc US engine and the other is a Qudra 42. My question to all you gas engine experts is,are they worth converting to EI. I hate to let them go to waste,so I was thinking that going EI would give me the weight savings so I could use them. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

gwulle,
Don't have any experience with the US25, no comment there. I have a US41 on CH ignition and a Quadra 42 on magneto. I like them both and the US41 is quite a bit lighter, about 10 ozs. Performance is about the same. Some of my installations need the weight savings, some don't. If I don't need it, I prefer the magneto fired engine ... one less battery set to manage.

Both engines would be improved with CH batt. ign. especially the 25. Lighter weight, much smoother idle. Idle about half the rpm off mag. On average idle 2000 for mag and 1000 for batt.
