Whats the best way to rig a kill switch for a homelite engine?

There's a little metal tab sticking up off the coil. Run a switch wire from there to the engine case. When switch is connected, the engine will not run.

In other words, it works backwards because it is a short out switch.

Do you just idle the plane down upon landing and kill it by hand or do they hook a servo to the grounding wire some way? Sorry for asking what seems to be a easy question.

The throttle is set up just like on a glow engine. You control idle speed with the trim on the throttle lever on your transmitter. After you land, and you want to stop the engine, you move the throttle trim to the bottom and your engine quits. You have to back the idle speed control out on the carb just like on a glow engine.

Some computer type transmitters have a shut down button that move the throttle down to shut off position.

The electric kill switch is just a safety item you install to keep the engine from running when you don't want it to or as an emergency shut off.

I figured as much, thanks a lot. This will be my first attempt at a conversion. Taking the leap.

Lots of info and parts for your homelite conversion at www.carrprecision.com. I have done a couple myself and they work great.

I already have one from my trusty weed eater which is about 10 years old. Not that it ever got used. Both a Ryobi with a blade for heavy duty work. The homie has sat for that long. Put fuel in it fires great. How do it check to see what size it is?

Chances are it's a 25 cc. Although there are many variations of the Homelite string trimmer, 999 out of a thousand were 25's. On some of them, on the exhaust side of the cylinder on the next to the top fin, there is a number. On my 30 it say's 4730A. My 25 is not convienent but it has a number in the same place such as 3625B.

Mine has the number 98776. It also has a ut no. 20539C on the back plate. The model is a ST-155 15" weed eater. Some help here would be appreciated.
