Could one of you guys that own a ZDZ 40 or 40b do me a big favor and measure the distance from the mount holes to the top of the carb fittings/linkage. I will have the engine mounted inverted and need to know if I will have enough clearance so nothing sticks out of the top of the cowl. I have 1 inch from the mount hole center to the top of my cowl. Can the carb be rotated 180 degrees?
Thanks

The carb can NOT be rotated because of the source of the crankcase pulse hole in the adapter. Sorry....
I don't have one to measure, but I put a ZDZ 40 in the H9 25% Cap (the old Matt CHapman), and the adjustments DID NOT clear (with a BIng) if you have the Walbro, they will clear, as the Bing needles are quite a bit taller (who knows why?)...sorry I can't be of more help.

No such thing as a carb that can't be rotated..All you need is a different block and a pulse source..Every G62 I ever made is rotated..I put a 6-32 setscrew in the original pulse hole in the cylinder so it won't leak, then put a pressure fitting in the crankcase and a Walbro #128-218 90 degree fitting in the carb rear cover to connect the crankcase fitting to the carb with a seamless molded neoprene fuel line ..Works better than the original hole, which can leak if the carb is loose....
Some chainsaws are made this way from the factory, with a fitting in the case and another in the carb..No big deal....

rcign - Carbs can be rotated - BUT - as you said, NOT without additional pressure tap points, or Different adapter bases. I made an assumption that he wants to use the motor stock, without modifications.
