Proper Engine Break-in
#51
roby: Like you said....a lot of intersting stuff here.....turned out so deep I may have to wear a pair of hip boots when I turn this computor on!!!!! Hey, I had many new chainsaws ect and broke them in at least a little. A Chainsaw actuallly is broken in under good conditions. Normally the opertor will run it on the rich side. He will always let it warm up and get oil on chain. Also a chainsaw gets a rest quite often. Operator has to move limbs and refuel and restart quite often. I take it you kinda like synthetic so much for break in. It may be the best way for certain engines....but not all. I think the bottom line is you got to go by what your manufactor of the engine you bought, so the warrentee is valid. Captinjohn

using synthetic in no way voids a warranty ( I believe this might be covered under the Magnuson-Moss act from the 70's ) because it meets and exceeds what the manufacturer recommends and other oils but you are right,to each his own.Cactus Aviation recommends synthetic from the start, they must have Germany backing them or they couldn't make that statement.Aircraft International recommends petroleum based for break in,they must have Germany backing them or they couldn't make that statement. See what I mean, There is no absolute wrong or right but just a new alternative to the old school ways!! I have never said synthetic is the only way just that there is a differen't way besides what we have all done in the past.
plus I'm just defending myself from former remarks saying I am mis informed and don't know what I'm talking about. I believe I have done enough homework to prove otherwise/but then again maybe not.

well Kris I'll tell you this,I have had a bad motor in the past from 3w Not Cactus! and Bobby has taken care of me no questions asked. From what I have read elsewhere on RC Universe I must be one of the luckiest people that run 3W's as for me (not anyone else) I have had no problems with motors so to speak of.All my engines run tops in fact I have had compliments this past season on how well my 85 twin runs. Getting back to your Question, As a matter of fact I do!! Bobby has been very honest with me! I have never been given any kind of false or misleading information that has led me to believe otherwise.I have had the same results with Desert Aircraft too,and Aircraft International.I must be one of the few people who will admit to complete satisfaction with these dealers. I know everyone gets a lemon now and then but if your willing to stick it out with that particular dealer/supplier instead of leaving with ill words or feelings and going to another dealer or engine and manufacturer all together I believe in the long run your up's far out weigh your down's.
I have stuck with Cactus because I like 3w motors, the way MINE run,the service I have recieved, the honesty that has been presented to ME.(not anyone else).I will stick with Cactus for one simple reason ----- I haven't a reason not to!!
I guess I lied!! I have 2 reasons,Cactus is the only one who sells that questionable snake oil everyone loves to put down.
You know--That new synthetic stuff!!!
