This engine transitions beautifully from idle to high throttle while on the ground. It was also OK in the air but after 7or 8 flights the mid throttle to high throttle was OK but the problem was with the low to mid throttle. If I had the throttle at mid range and clicked back two clicks, there was a severe drop in RPM, almost to idle. If I moved the stick from idle to mid range, engine RPM did not increase. the only time it would increase in RPM was when the stick was almost at mid throttle and engine RPM would increase very rapidly. This condition always made for some hairy landings. Once the plane was on the ground, the engine transitioned beautifully, no problem. I have this engine on a GP Patty Wagstaff extra 300 ARF. I have a tube running from the small hole in the diaphram cover on the carb to the inside of the fuse to even out air pressure. I also have all the holes plugged up on the engine box to prevent turbulent air from entering the fuse from the firewall.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem such as this with the BME 50? I'm open to all suggestions. Many thanks.

I had a similar issue with a BME 50 this weekend. Discovered that the faster the plane was moving through the air the lower the idle would get. After a couple of other things I threw the velocity stack away and that took care of the problem.
