My neighbor and I recently purchased a BT-43EIS and ran it on an engine test stand for the first time this last weekend. After the second run we noticed the smell of overheated rubber. Upon closer inspection we found that the EI Hall sensor assembly was worn down by .020 inches. This appears to be due to a mechanical interference between the hub that carries the timing magnet and the sensor. The sensor thickness is rated at 0.39 inches, yet the measured distance between the back of the hub and the mounting surface for the sensor is 0.370 inches. It looks as if some of the mechancial components may be out of specification in order for this to occur. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
By the way, other than this issue, the engine ran well.
Thanks,
