Default electronic kill switch

O.K....I'm a real dummy when it comes to electronics so please bear with me. I have a stock G26 installed in my eindecker...nothing special just right out of the box. I also have the great planes kill switch I posted a question on earlier but in reading some posts on kill switches I hear a lot of recommendations for the Rcat electronic switch. Sounds great but will it work for me and what else will I need beside the unit itself and how do I hook it up? I have no ignition battery as mentioned in some of the posts. Thanks,

Bud

Never saw one, but if it can be connected to ground the black wire from the source coil it will work...[8D]

My RCATS saved me yesterday!

Highly recomended.

I have a QQ Somenzini Yak 72 with a Hitec 475 on the throttle.

The throttle servo sheared at the stem while in flight. No throttle. What a funny experience. As I flew the plane, since the linkage was rocking back and forth while flying, the engine increased and decreas rpms till I found out what was going on. I circled. Called my intentions, used my RCATS cutoff switch, and landed safely.

The switch paid for itself yesterday.

Good, must have insurance.

Wow! I think I'll be ordering one now. Glad you went home with one of these.

Product Information
The RC-100 is a normally open relay switch. Simply plug this switch into an open channel on your R/C receiver. It will then act as an electronic switch for many applications! Excellent for an engine kill on magneto engines. The RC-100 consumes very low power, and has a high current carrying capacity (Capable of 5 amps at 30V!)

Hi I'm using SMART FLY kill switch with optical coupling for added insurance and what I can say is that the little switch is AWESOME, light, easy to install, stright forward use. Give it a try, you wont be disapointed.

I just got my RCAT RC-100 in the mail. Now what do I do to get it hooked up? There are two black wires and the end that plugs into the receiver. Where do the black wires go? I'm using a G26 with no electronic ignition. Can someone help an electronics dummy?

I don't have this unit, but I believe you install a connector to the black wires that would allow you to connect the switch to a manual ON/OFF switch.

What wires go to the engine then to kill it?

RCATs should be able to tell you, but I imagine you hook the switch in series between the primary side of your magneto coil and ground. Then the switch connector is plugged into an auxiliary port on your receiver. RCIgn responded up this thread a ways about a black wire. I don't have a G26 but there's got to be a ground wire somewhere on the engine. Look in the manual and see how they recommend hooking up a manual switch. It'd be the same, except you use your electronic switch.
