I am a beginner and am looking forward to buy some good gear.
I am based in India, and would like to know what GAS in a GAS helicopeter refers to:
-DOes it mean Petrol?
-Does it mean Aviation fuel (white petrol)?
-or does itmean a gaseous fuel LPG / CNG etc?

Gas is Gasoline or Automotive Petrol

yes....

but sadly.....many people Wrongly use gas to describe airplanes or helicopters that run on glow fuel ( a mix of alcohol, nitro, and oil)

a better term is calling them "glow" models...

Your asking basic questions about a VERY complicated and advanced helicopter. No one here is going to tell you how far that heli will fly on a given amount of fuel with a 12lb payload.

Hey guys I am from the film Industry in India.
I run a production house and am plannng to set-up an aerial filming facility for smallproducers at reasonable cost.

the system I am talking about is developed by a US based company called Airfoil Sky cams, www.airfoilskycam.com I thought it was a reasonable question.

There are several companies here producing video helis. Folks also have had good luck with the larger electric planes as the cameras can be simplier as the vibrations are not there vs a gas engine plane or heli.

I think my response was valid, considering the available data at the time of my response. Ambiguous question--new user--payload on a model heli--guy from a foreign country with the second largest muslim population in the world.

I just take these things very seriously. We see this all the time on RCU.

Same article also said: "...In spite of their large population (In India), Muslims are outnumbered six to one by Hindus."

Technically, glow fuel and gasoline/petrol fueled engines are gas engines. My memory isn't in great enough shape to give you the technical reasons why any longer, unfortunately.

When I was young, Cox, Wen-Mac, OK Cub and others used the term gas powered on their RTF model boxes. I saw someone complain about this in a model magazine and read the explaination of precisely why they are technically and legally considered to be powered by gas. Sure wish I could dredge it up for you. Maybe someone else remembers the "why" of this fact.

I especially like that just because someone from a country with a large muslim population asks a question like this, well then he must be a terrorist that's up to no good. Never mind that the post with the 12lb payload in it also included exactly what the payload was.

I'm betting that someone wanting to fly an RC heli with an explosive payload would be able to find the fuel consumption of a small gas engine anywhere.

Sure, caution is a good thing, but this goes right past caution to paranoia.

I have met the owner of airfoil, have been to the shop, and have built and test flown a few of these entire setups for a local aerial video and photography business here in Iowa. I am a long time JR heli fan, builder and flier, and can vouch for the claims made by Airfoil and their equipment. The owner is an engineer by trade, if I remember correctly, and his history with advanced testing in respect to helicopters is impressive, in full scale as well. In your original post I think you were looking for some basic feedback, and it turned ugly. So here is some of that for you, from someone whos had first hand experience with the exact setup you are talking about. Good luck!

I have run the G26 in these helis and found with varying payloads, depending on camera equipment being used, fuel consumption of 1/2-1oz per minute. Most of the time we'd get about 30 mins on 20 oz of fuel (0.66 oz per min).

I think if you get down to the thechie talk level, what we call GLOW ENGINE is a semi-diesel ignition engine as apposed to a gas engine with spark ignition..

I wouldn't trust ANYONE named BUBBA!

Are you kidding me? That's the spirit, don't help a fellow modeler, label anyone who's not from the US a terrorist. Foreign is a question of geography. He's not from a foreign country, you are, if the person answering the question is in India. It's not like he's sitting in the downtown fertilizer shop asking this question. This is an international forum. People on here are from all walks of life, christian, muslim, hindu, buddhist, native american, atheist etc. Stop talking down and and acting like those who are not from your "neighborhood" are subhuman. This whole discussion is offensive! You have taken someone that felt they were doing the correct and consiencious thing, and driven him into the ground! While his approach could be considered strong handed, he was trying to do right. His offensive remarks were met with offensive remarks. I would hope that we do not throw caution to the wind. May I suggest, that instead of trying to confront a possibly suspicious entry here, that we just contact RCU, and let them look into it? Perhaps they should even develop a policy on this.
