Whoa.......... slow down bugman.

I'm not arguing with you. as a matter of fact I very much hope you are correct. I would really like to see what the 3W would do on this plane, but I was just kidding about you sending one, and I wasn't questioning your comparison. Didn't you see the smiley faces.......

I happen to be a 3W fan, I think they are great engines. I doubt if you will ever hear me bad mouth one.
The RCS engine was bought for another project which it was perfect for. Although it flies my edge quite well, It is not quite enough power to suit me.
The numbers I quote are real
I have no doubt that your numbers are real, I have seen your many posts before and you are one of the reliable people on this site.

By the way An engine mount for the RCS weighs 3.8oz.

I know you flew both engines, but it really would be interesting to see the results of both on the exact same airframe.
I would seriously consider putting the 3W on my edge, but don't want to spend the money just for an experiment, know what I mean.
If I ever get the chance, I sure will try one because I really don't like most of the other choices.

For now the RCS will have to do.

Tipover,

I don't know if the 3W-24 will run a 16" prop in the 9000 range. Since the peak of the torque curve is around 7500 rpms, the better strategy would be to use a 16 x 8 3-bladed prop or maybe 16 x 10 3-blade.

If I were to fly this engine sport wise, I would prop the engine to tach around 7100-7400 on the ground. Since I deploy very draggy sampling devices once airborne, I use a 18 x 8 @ 8000 rpms on the ground. When the samplers are opened in the air, the engine bogs down to the mid 7000 rpm and is then running at the peak torque.

I hope this helps

Its a stick built kit that DA sells for the same guy (SS) who flies the Katana. same shape and all just called a Funtana. I should have mine up in the air soon as its moving right alone...

Hey Krazyc, Try a APC 17-6 if you have one. Should spin around 9000 rpms. Close to 20 lbs static thrust, and the engine will spool up faster. Nice plane!

Default RE: rcs engine

hi Jemo,

I just bought a SV 26cc from rcshowcase and this one is my first gas engine. i see that you have broken yours in, so i am looking for some help. First i don't find a choke lever on my engine. as seen on a picture on one of china's websites, this one seems to be a 2008 model. the crankcase is also silver in color instead of blue. i have looked all over and it seems to have a walbro wt 741 carb, but a exploded picture i found online displays this carb with the choke lever......My question is....is it possible some body put this carb together and forgot the choke assembly...or can the engine run without a choke?

Anyway it's comforable to hear that the engine runs good. My plan is to install it in a H9 1/4 scale cub. Size, shape and weight seems to be going to work fine.

looking forward to start my engine and hear it run.....

Best regards.
