Default Prop engine combo

Say I have a plane and engine combo that that flies and hovers well with a 20 X 10 prop and also flies and hovers well with a 22 X 10 prop of the same type, the plane is light so the 20 X 10 is adequate for good vertical performance.

Question, which prop is going to take less power from the engine when hovering?

I have been thinking about this and come to a conclusion but not sure it is right, wonder what you experts think?

I'm no expert, but common sense tells you a smaller prop is going to take less HP to swing it.

An engine that spins more RPM, but accomplishes the same goal is going to run cooler than an engine that turns less RPM on a bigger prop.

Lugging the engine down with a larger prop creates heat and there's no reason to do it if you if you don't have to worry about noise.

The smaller prop is going to turn more RPM to accomplish the same goal, but RPM isn't going to kill your engine. HEAT will kill it and you get heat from putting too much prop on it and lugging it down.

I'm guessing, but I'd say Rcpilet is right on target if "common sense" dictates.... Of course to prove me wrong wouldn't hurt my feelings either.... Bill
