Can you guys with G62 experience help me out with muffler options?
I know of a few companies making mufflers specifically for the G62, what I am interested in, is finding out what compatibilities there are between this 62 and other brands in the 50-60cc range that will bolt right up. This info comes in very handy when shopping in the classifieds or at swap meets.
I'm hoping to find something small, light, simple and not too restrictive as far as in cowl stuff goes...for example, has anyone mounted up a DA 50 muffler on their 62...etc?
Any advice you can offer will be great, thanks!

There isn't much that will bolt up to a Zenoah--if your talking about headers n stuff from other engines like the ZDZ or 3W.
This guy has mufflers, headers n stuff for the Zenoah engines.
www.toni-clark.com
Go to the parts page here:
http://www.toni-clark.com/ftp/e-Kat_1_2007.pdf
That parts page is 19mb in size, so unless you have a decent connection--I wouldn't attempt it. [sm=idea.gif] Go to the library instead. They usually have a faster connection.
Go to page 80 and you'll find headers, mufflers, cannisters, tuned pipes and all sorts of other goodies for the G-62.
The prices aren't that bad. You'd pay about the same price for those cannisters as you would for any of the other engines like ZDZ or 3W. How much can it cost to ship a can and a pipe to the United States? $20 at the most? Worth it, in my opinion.
You can also go to B&B if you just want a muffler.

Or Slimline if you want a pitts muffler:
http://www.slimlineproducts.com/onli...iant_scale.htm
Or you can go to Bisson too:

Macs has headers. They used to have a tuned pipe for the 62, but they are now stating that they are out of the aluminum for that pipe, so you need to call and have them make it. I think they might just be making them on an "as ordered" basis. Maybe they aren't going to stock it because it's not a popular pipe--but I'll bet if you call and give them a CC # you'll get a pipe in the mail a couple weeks later. But, thats just speculation on my part.

Here are the headers:

Part number-- 4560--4561-- or 4562. You just need to pick a length for clearence out your cowl.
Here's the tuned pipes:

You need the 1097 Quiet pipe or the 1197 tuned pipe. Just depends on what your trying to accomplish.

Thanks for taking the time to put together that information, I appreciate it. Toni Clark has some stuff I will definitely try at some point, but for my current project I think a regular muffler is in order. Any comments between the B&B type vs. the Slimline?

The Slimline pitts is not loud at all. Not too restrictive either. I've used Slimline and Bisson pitts mufflers. I like them both about the same. The Slimline pitts with built in smoke coil is restrictive--jst a little. It's miles better than a stock muffler, but it's not as free-flowing as a noon-smoke muffler. The coils must take up a lot of space inside the muffler.
The B&B side dump is almost as loud as your average mother-in-law after a couple drinks. Very annoying.
The Macs tuned pipe and header isn't all that loud. It makes excellent power. The problem I have with it is that I have to cut my plane apart to mount it inside the fuse. I love to build--but hacking up a brand new $500 ARF isn't something I want to do.

Rcpilet--Thanks for the muffler info---I love RCIGN G62s and have been using Bennett Mufflers on them. True, they are loud, but at our dry lake bed site in the desert that's not a big problem. I'm going to try some of the other stuff, however. Too bad the G62 isn't sold with a decent muffler in the first place. Brillelli and BCMA have realized that most of us would like a nice muffler WITH the engine, but the Zenoah vendors haven't made the offer. Once again, thanks.

Does anybody know of any way that i can get a wrap-around header for the G62? I want to get it so i can put it in a EF Yak 54 88". It has a tunned pipe opening already built into it. If you have it... might as well use it

Not super cheap (not super expensive, either), quality is superb.

Believe it or not a Bisson OS 160 pitts muffler will bolt right on a G-62. I had to side mount aG-62 in my Wilga to hide the engine. For awhile I used a modified Bennett muffler. That didn't hold up as well as I wanted. I had a Bisson OS 160 muffler laying around, and just tried it. The port is very very close, and the bolt pattern is close enough as well. The G-62 has the open ended bolt slots which allows some wiggle room. It runs great, no loss of power, although I did cut both crimps off the ends of the pipes to alleviate the back pressure issues that the 160 likes.
