Default Does cowl size make a signifance difference in prop selection.

When selecting a prop for an engine which is to be used in a model that has a big cowl like say a Sukhoi, does one have to use a bigger dia. prop. to get the desired performance.

Not sure Karolh, but I do know that you should not have the prop real close to the cowl. The prop runs more efficiently at a distance. I think that would be more important.

The size of the prop remains the same. It will place the same load on the engine that it did before. The issue is the amount of air that is moved and flows cleanly through it, which is the reason for moving the engine a bit more forward on round cowled aircraft.
