Default DL-50 gas engine

No thread bashing.
No DA-50 talk. ( we've all read that )

Just guys that have the DL-50 running or in the air, how are they performing????

Precisely because that thread has thread bashing and DA-50 talk, but little DL engine information.

No, it's not that at all. The origional 16 page tread turn into nothing about the DL-50 performance. The guys that got them, stopped posting numbers and performance that they are getting from the DL.
The origional 16 page post turned into:
It's a copy, Don't waste your money, They won't stand behind their product like DA will, 3w engines, etc, etc.
Lets see performance numbers and in the air performance of the guys that have them incase there are some of us out there that want to buy one.
I know DA makes a great motor, but some of you guys act like if you don't buy a DA, you shouldn't buy anything.
Not everyone can spend $600.00 on just a motor, $100.00 for a muffler, etc, etc.
Lets hear about the $350.00 DL-50 only please.

I purchased a DL50 its on my bench now, it looks as if it would be very similar in functionallity as the DA, I have both engines and the only major diff I can see is the case. the stock muffler is a little lighter (Not as well produced) but should work fine. I will have some numbers next week.

I read through that thread and still haven't read anything that tells how this engine runs. I'm eager to hear what results others get and what they have to say "after" testing it.

Guys, I have locked that thread because it got really out of hand, if this one heads in that direction you can be sure I'll kill this one as well, I'll politely ask that the name calling, political, economics and and other obvious rule violation be kept out of here.

There are a lot of good people just waitng to hear info on this engine, myself included

I will post my flight reports on this Sunday evening.

I am going to use three props ....MEzjlik 22 x8 , MenzS 22 x8 and 23 x8.

32: 1 Penzoil.

CM-6 plug, replaced from generic stock. 6v on Fromeco regulator.

THe pics are from the other thread, I feel they show the mount after a mounting mistake, but nonetheless, it shows it's possible failure point.

The mount died because it was mounted to a metal bench. Bench didn't deflect so mount had to absorb all the vibration, not a very good setup. Good motor, excelent throttle response. If you can get one, they are good engines. Just as powerful as a DA, ran my xoar 22x8 at 7300, with less than a gal through it. Should fly it this week sometime. I'll be posting in the new DL forum, Look for it there. The only downside is that you will have to work to get support. There is now a usa distributer, he posted in the new forum. So, that should make support a little easier.

Take a look at the videos. If you want a couple hundred more rpm you might want to consider a wt201 or 76 carb.

If you have any questions pm or e-mail me.

I ran a DL50.. It ran great, I don't think a DA 50 is one bit better in any way...It turned a Xoar 23-8 at 6700 here using the stock muffler and stock Walbro clone carb...

I agree 100%. 1st off, why do you guys insist on running the motor on benches? The airflow from the prop is not what it is in the air. Check for leaks and lose nuts and bolts on the ground. Check to make sure it idles and transitions fine. Put it in the air. Let it unload some in the air. Why do you guys bench run them? I don't get that part. As for the DL 100, it looks like a nice motor too. I too agree that the other thread was hard to "wade" through. I own 5 DA's but am open minded too. I want to know how this motor is holding up for guys that have had them a year or so now? Keep up the so far clean thread !

I own a DL-50 .... haven't run it yet, but thought that those that are interested might want to know that HobbyCity sells it now ... for $325.00 plus $38 EMS Priority mail delivered. EMS from my experience takes 8 - 11 days to arrive at my door.
