Poor little DA always being compared to bigger engines...Then someone will come and say that the evolution is better because it has more power. [X(]

Yep. Seriously, comparing the DA 50 to the Evolution 58 is like comparing the Chevy 350 to the Chrysler 426. Rounding the numbers generously - the 58 is about 20% bigger than the DA50 cc-wise ... and the 426 is about 20% bigger than the 350 ci-wise. The 426 can produce more power than the 350 ... and the 58 can produce more power than the 50 ... as they should. It would be a bad design if it couldn't. The Hemi weighs more. The 58 weighs more. Honestly, the DA50 is the chevy small block of rc planes ... and that is a good thing. There is more optional equipment (choices) available for the DA. There are more people that really know the facts about the DA. There are actiually planes designed around the DA50. Those of us that own the Evolution 58 can't say that. Why did I buy the Evolution and not the DA? I wanted the extra power and I fly biplanes ... and biplanes tend to come out on the tail heavy side ... so a little extra weight up front can help. Would I buy another Evolution instead of a DA? It totally depends on the model I want to put it in. I know that is a "canned answer" but it is true. For a big biplane - I'd go Evolution. If I was building a monoplane that was designed for a light weight 50 - the DA would be right choice ... especially if that plane had a tunnel. It is hard to beat a light DA50 on a good canister .. unless it is with a 58GX on a good canister
