Default Canisters and Flex Headers

What ways can i stop the flex headers from spewing out the black stuff that is common when breaking in a brand new gas engine at 32:1?

Also in my case my fuel tanks are 1" above my canisters, is this to close to the heat created by the canisters?

You can wrap the headers with thin teflon tape. It is sold in hardware stores to stop leaks in threaded plumbing pipes. Several layers will be needed to stop most header leaks. Teflon material will not melt at the normal tempeture of headers
