Default Stihl HP oil.....your comments please.

I am interested in hearing from anyone that has experience with using Stihl High Performance 2T oil and their impression of it.

I've had good luck with it in my Stihl chain saw and trimmer. I worked for a Stihl dealer awhile back and became convinced/brainwashed into thinking their product was the best. I know if/when I get into gas engines, I'll be using their oil.
Good luck, MikeB

I still use Stihl chainsaw oil in all my gassers. It works great, and has never caused me any problems.

It's been just fine in my Taurus. I was running 50-1 but that was pretty messy. I might consider cutting the ratio back a little now it's run in. Say about 60 or 70-1.

Close enough. If it's intended to be mixed with gas and used for air cooled engines you'll be fine.

SS, I though that you were a Pennzoil man.

Nope, That's RTK. I'm not really partial to any one oil. Personally I use the Stihl, Belray H1R, Red Line, and Motul 800. All of them perform very well. The Pennzoil works just as well but for some reason everyone wants to run the stuff at 32 and 40-1. Makes a terrible mess at those ratios and doesn't perform any better than the others noted at higher ratios.

I presently run Bel Ray MC1 at 50:1 as it's the easiest of the better quality oils for me to obtain here. I have tried using it at higher ratios to escape the little specks of goo I get at 50:1, but I have a bit of uneasiness about ratios above the 50 mark even though I have been told by you and others that the Bel Ray is good for it.

I have located a source to obtain what I have only just found out is the regular Stihl 2T oil and not the HP version, and wondered if it would make a good alternative if my Bel Ray source ever dried up.
