Ok. Now I'm looking for a good kill switch. Engine is an Evolution 26GT. I want an optical, but don't know where to acquire one. Currently flying another Evo 26, and a Fuji 50EI, and need one (well three actually[8D]) that works with these engines. Get ready to stone me, because I'm currently using the choke at low idle to shut down. I looked at Smart-Fly http://www.smart-fly.com/Products/Ignition/ignition.htm but seems kind of pricey. If I'm wrong then tell me please, because I have no point of reference. Just hate to bend a rod by shutting my engine off wrong.

There was an add on RCU marketplace for optical kill switches. Buddy of mine got one and seems satisfied with it. Price was right too. Not sure if there are any more, but can't hurt to look.

I really don't see anything optical about the one linked to. Does it turn off power to the ignition in case of power loss to the receiver? Non-optical kill switches can be had all day long for $25.00 or less, if this is not truely an optical kill switch and possesses the feature mentioned, then it is not fair to compare it to the SF unit at $55.00.

Using the choke to stop the engine will fray the reed valves, expensive, Also the Evo engines are a different make, made in Italy. Until you get your kill switch take out your throttle stop screw and use the throttle trim on the Tx to stop your engine, I use the trim in preference to a kill switch IMO its a bit like match boxes on a 50cc not rearly neccesary, if the battery dies on you in flight its because of lack of maintenence and not carrying out your pre flight properly. Now watch the fur fly.
