Well, at the end, those new 2.4GHz systems which are coming might solve this problem or even
make it lot worse ... Anyway, fail-safe/save options in any king of Radio are good thing.
Especially for Gas-engines, 2.4GHz systems are inherently lot better shielded against most of
the intereferneces but the problems with them beside the wave-propagations one is that they
are in "baby-age" and suffer from "baby-ilnesses" and it might take 1-2 years more to get
them well in place and maybe replace the current FM radios.
Well, we have no "baby-illness" whatsoever here is NEVADA! We do still have "AlzHimer FM" crashing most of our planes...
8 planes down last 2 weeks...all on FM...tell you anything?

Well, to be more precise, you need to tell also the Ratio of Flying-vs-Crashing numbers, for each of
those systems, isn't it ? Also, how many FM systems you have got in use vs. 2.4GHz in use ?
I hope you will agree that Ratio is the thing to consider, not the Absolute numbers.

Also(as a joke), was that area "54" in Nevada where the UFO were kept/landing, I just
rember that movie "The independence day"? - that might be one reason for crashes indeed.

Well, take it easy, I am working and I'm quite well paid for developing some advanced GHz range
"things", and I would not buy a single one yet for a private use; I got enough "fun" with them
in my main job. Surely the future is there, but they are not yet worth for a private pocket;
well that is my opinion, and of course everybody is free to spend his cash as he wants too.
The mostly crash-proof thing is the ... RC-flight simulator indeed, unless someone plugs
there a computer virus too; i.e. "ilnesses" are everywhere...

After all, that is why I am MOSTLY concerned about the Price of the RC Plane; that is the
trick, how to make it better with lover cost, because by a reason or another the crashes
will take place allways, at least due to the "jitter" in the tumbs of the pilot...

Cheers,
Nick

Don't get mad but you'll thank me for this.Please.Please Please switch to FASST system or one like it .I'm of course refering to spread spectrum, while not perfect it's absolutely the best defense we as modelers have going for us.I fly on a industrial park site and everything immaginable is up there. In closing i had problems with everyone of my planes ALL gassers and nearly lost a couple in close encounters.Forget all that worry about where you mount switches, battery packs and recievers etc, that system does'nt seem to care.Later

More than a stones throw...Silver (PatRoy)...better load up your google earth and check us out. Just look for Eldorado Dry lake bed..and you see the world's biggest and best flying field.
Our local hobby store is suffering on sales and it all started after the arrival of the DX. His arf sales has dropped almost 30% since this time last year.
Another economic indicator of what the DX does! Gotz to love it! I do.

I will be flying Spectrum. It is working flawlessly for all pilots using it in the local clubs I belong to. Not only that, the 'feel' of the control is remarkable. Gone is the 'jerky' proportional movement of the servos. It is more like the cable feel of a full scale. More positive, instantainious control than we have ever had. Add to that, that nothing on board the aircraft can interfear with it, which makes it a perfect choice for controlling gas and electric aircraft, IMO.
