Default Echo Trimmer Engine

I may have the opportunity to get an Echo Trimmer engine for about $25.00. I think these are the 21cc size. Has anyone converted one of these engines? I have been told that they turn a higher RPM than the Homelite 25cc. I think they are supposed to be more of a commercial engine. Does anyone know how they would compare to a Homelite 25cc. It looks like the carbs are mounted in such a way the the trottle control would be a straight shot back. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Paul

Default Echo rotation?

You may want to check the rotation on the Echo before you spend any money. I have quite a few of these out in the shed and I think you will find that they rotate the wrong way, at least that is the way I remember it.

the echo srm-2100 is the same engine as the fpe1.3. if you get rid of the flywheel it makes a nice light engine. if i remember correctly the one i converted a couple of years ago would turn a MA 16x6 at 8000rpm with open exhaust, probably less than the homelite 25. tom perry (i think) in florida has some these with ch-ignition for under $200. fpe wants about twice that amount. if you like to tinker, do the conversion yourself and enjoy!
