Default THOR 45 CDI Problems

I have a THOR 45 CDI I bought to replace two that's two bad Supertiger 3250's. I can't get it to run at top RPM for any consitant period. Surging or misfiring at above 6000rpm. Today it ran for about two minutes with out burping or surging. Adjusted the carb ever way possible. Seems to run most consistent at factory setting of 1 1/2 turns high and low needle. Ran good like I said refueled and burp-BurpBurp-Burp again. Any body have experience with this engine.

You need to run a few gallons of gas thru the engine to break it in. Run a champion r9j9 plug and and keep anything to do with the ignition 12" away from any radio equipt. also a 6 volt at least 1900 ma battery. I can hover my 16 pound plane at half throttle with no problems.

My Ignition equip. is all mounted on the motor box. 2100 ni metal 6 volt battery. No RF at all. I'll check the plug. It did run correctly for a few minutes. Maybe it's starting to break in. I'll run some more fuel through it. I'm sure the jets are close. When it ran right it felt like it had good thrust. I have a Brison 3.2 in my 28% Wild Hare Unlimited vertical. I don't expect that from this bird but I would like reliability

I know this is an old post but I have the answer. The Thor 45cc is a fantastic engine but the ignition module is a piece of crap.
I talked to global and they said that the module must have a 6V 3500 mAh Sub C pack to work properly.
I was having the exact problems you are having on my thor.
I replaced it with a brison ignititon and it now runs like a top at idle and top end...
I use a 2500 mAh 6v nimh but this module works great with a 4 cell 600 mAh pack.
