Ok, I'm trying to be enthusiastic about my Moki (after being an owner of a fine running ST 3000) but I'm having trouble with findind a good prop for it. The 20x8 MA wood was way too much for it-6600 rpm. A Pro Zinger 18x8 spins at 9000 but the plane creeps along and makes a lot of noise. I put a Std Zinger 18x8 and dropped the rpm to 8000 but still seemed to bog in the mid-range. This is on a Midwest Cap which flies beautifully but so far, not happy with the engine. I want a prop with good thrust that and good transition, and loads the engine to about 8400 rpm's. Running about 3% nitro and 12% oil fuel blend and clueless on the glow plug. Does anyone recommend a OS F or an Enya #3?

I have tried a Top Flite 18x8, 18x6-10, and Zinger std 18x6-10 and have had the best results with the Zinger 18x6-10. All of this was on a #8 plug running 10% nitro.

Flying a Ultra Stick 120 with a Moki 2.10 on it. Should be about the same I think or pretty close to it. Plug I use is an OS F and prop I use a Mej 20x8. Fuel 5nitro and 18 oil. Pretty much thats it. And it flys great. It whistles on flybys and I whistle back at it.

Flyfalcon, what rpm are you getting with that prop? Also, I may be unlucky but two of my large Zingers were not straight. I took my 20x8 MA wood that was straight and I trimmed it down to 19", gave it Menz style tips and balanced it. Now 7400 prm's and much smoother. I'm gonna try it but it's raining today.

Moki 1.8 loves 19-8 MenzS, Mezlick, and bolly
I have a little over 1300 tanks of fuel thew my 1.8
I run K&B 1L plugs in mine, and Power Master 5% Sport fuel threw most of the 1300 flights
at 800 tanks threw it I sent it to Jim and I had him go threw it durring that winter.. I gave it a xmas present and put new bearings in it and they realy where not warn out.
I have got new Rings for it because out of around 1300 flights or so it fnnaly shut off for the first time in the air.. And I had been suspecting it a couple flights before once my motor got hot the rings where warn out and was starting to lean out to much from lack of piston rings
Pretty darn good engines Jim brought in the country
Owned two moki 1.2's and my 1.8 and the 2.1 moki also

I can't say exactly with the Zinger, but the Top Flite 18x8 was tached at 8800, and I think the Zinger is turning a little slower. I have a Perry pump and use medium fuel tubing. My mixture setting is about 1-3/8 turns out, which leaves a good smoke trail and doesn't lean out in the air. Oh, that RPM number is ready-to-fly, not peak.

Holy Cow...!!!
You have 1300 flights on an engine? I have to say...I'm totally impressed....
I haven't been in the hobby long enough to have 1300 flight total, much less on a given motor.
Hmmm....three flights per visit, 65 visits a year X 3 years...I've probably had 550 or so flights total, since I came back to the hobby...

Actully I just found my book..its 1379 tanks.. average around 20oz a flight also
In 1998 I and Bob went to Toledo and where the first canadians to fly in the IMAC nats.. so I practiced alot before hand to look half ass at my first nats.. I burnt 78gallons of fuel in 60day prior to the IMAC nats.. did pretty good also having the 2nd smallest airplane there. well besides trying to take Doug Cronkite out on on a parctice flight
And thats why I went to gas

Tks, guys. I think the prop I like best is a 19x8. Getting the best thrust from it and it will pull my Midwest unlimitied vert (barely). Haven't had enough flights on it to really know, still trimming the plane. I'm running a Perry pump and an Enya 3 and the throttle is instant. WOT is about 7500 rpm's with a wide blade 19x8.

Sportman, I used the original plug until last Sat. It finally went. If you are using 10% to 15% nitro I would use a no.8 glow plug.
If you are using low or no nitro you would need to use a hot glow plug. I am running a lower nitro fuel so I am using a hotter glow plug. I strickly use the type "F" plug on my four strokes. No idle bars!

I agree with Randy B. 19x8 mejslik and K&B 1L or K&B 4520 with 5% Powermaster fuel.1.8 Moki's will run forever if you don't lean it too hard. I have two, an eight year old one on a Spitfire, and one on a 27% cap232 going on its third season. Only problem I've had with them is you get tired of fueling them up. Paul
