Default ZDZ 80 Twin

I fly with one and I'm very happy with it. On KS canasters it turns just about as good as a 80 single (about 200 RPM less) I have tried several props in the 26in range and it turns them all in the 6000 to 6500 range as for thrust I have no way of telling what it puts out all I know is that it will take a 20lb laser straight up NO problem. One other thing the engine is smooth very smooth about the smoothest twin I have seen at our field. Just my .02

That is one of the main things that I was wondering about... I have been told that the twin shook a great deal.....and that the 80 single was smooth... I think you have answered the question I had about the motor... I think it would be a good match for my plane...

Thanks

Default RE: ZDZ 80 B2 thrust?

Every gas engine will have an RPM at which it puts out a noticable vibration freq, usually is a few clicks above idle. Try to avoid that RPM. My newest airplane is a 33% Hangar 9 CAP with a ZDZ 80 single, Bisson pitts muffler, and Bambula 26-10. The performance of this comb (still not broken in with about 3 gal through it) is OUTSTANDING!!! 22.5 lbs, takeoffs, and torque rolls are done at less than half throttle, and general straight and level is done at 1/8th to 1/4 throttle (just above that bad vibration RPM). I cant wait until this engine is broken in... I plan to switch to a Mejzlik 26-10 or a Menz S 26-10 soon. I highly recomend the 80 single, you wont be dissapointed.

Best of Luck,

Bobby
