WOULD IT BE ADVISABLE TO USE THE LUGS ON THE C&H TO MOUNT IT TO THE FIREWALL OR WOULD IT BE SAFER TO WRAP THE MODULE IN LATEX, I WAS WONDERING IF THE MODULE MIGHT SUFFER SOME PROBLEMS FROM VIBRATION. RCM

I believe he's referring to the new RC XL ignitions that CH is selling under their name. They have a plastic case with mounting lugs at both ends. Don't use the lugs if it's a plastic case. From experience they break away from engine vibration. Alway use some padding between the ignition module and the airframe, or some other form of vibration dampner.

They are metal not plastic...at least on mine.
(well I guess it could be plastic....they are getting darn good at making plastic look like metal)
I still use foam and zip ties.

I don't know how this ignition compares to a 3W, but I wouldn't use the tabs. I followed 3W's recommendation where they insist you mount it with the tabs and grommets .... broke all the tabs. When I called they said to CA the cracks. Didn't even offer to replace. .... Ok I've vented... Back to your question.
Here's my method, velcro sticky back in strips on back of case edge leaving room for air circulation then one or two straps around. Foam would be ok on back as well (unless air circulation is cautioned by ignition maker) then velcro straps.
Regarding the use of cup hooks and rubber bands. I tried that in a number of installs. I've noticed this can allow a very strange second order harmonic (vibration) to develop at certain RPM's. The module was shaking like crazy, can't be good. Maybe I just need more or tighter rubber bands. I'm no expert, but that's my experience. If you try it at least look at the install when engine running to verify all is ok. Velcro and velcro straps seem the best.

I asked this very same question fo TKG and he said that since the RC exl ignition generates little or no heat above the ambient temperature it is ok to simply wrap it in foam and stick it inside the fuse. Secure with either velcro strips, zip ties or rubber bands .... your choice.
