I'd like to add a gas model to my airplane inventory. Prefer to stay on the small side of gas. Completed fuse length needs to be no more than 72" (Airplane, motor, spinner) due to vehicle size. Prefer and ARF, can be scale(ish) edge, extra, yak.... or can be a profile like an OMP. I've read till I'm totally confused on small gas engines. I do want power to do 3D. Engine needs to be realiable. I've fitzd YS's 140's till it's no fun anymore.

if you have past glow experience almost any of the more popular gas engines are for you, DL50, Brillelli, the mane difrence from gas to glow is 1. the smell of gas sucks, 2, glow is to expensive, 3 tuning is diffrent on gas. 4, have to mix your oil.
Brillelli has a nice como for their 46 engine and extreme flight YAK 54, I dont have that plane or seen it fly but its a combo.

How experienced are you? If moderate and want to have fun instead of working a Giant Big Stik and a CRRC Pro45 (regular-don't need the fancy one) and you will have hours of fun. Granted, not fully 3D but what a great practice plane combo and oh so simple.

I've flow 18 years. Been through sticks, pattern, profiles, various sport planes. Not looking for a stick, looking for a full aerobatic bird. Just advice to transition to gas.

Tom has some pretty good combos but it looks like the web page is having some issues. The Yak combo link works-I just don't like the round snout of the Yak (totally personal on an aesthetics issue-nothing wrong with the planes).

An old saying comes to mind... "you get what you pay for"

my vote is on the brillelli combo, personaly I like bigger but for the size your looking for that will be a nice introduction to gas you get the fuel line pump and can with motor mounts clunk filter and stopper, just add electronics, verry nice combo, I used to have a poulan 46 conversion actually I still have.... just took a pic of it.... PCM Lock @ 300 feet
When the engine ran it ran hard I always ad a bit of problem on the transition but it was a conversion.

I see valleyviewrc.com is up and running better tonite...here is a pretty good set-up: http://www.valleyviewrc.com/SD%20Mod...xtra%20260.htm
Is it the ultimate for you? Probably not but it is a good setup at a good price, gets you started and then YOU can learn what YOU like and don't like rather than a bunch of yahoos like me telling you what you "must get or your stupid". I have a giant stinger out in the shop that was my first gasser. I got it at a pretty good price and I would never get one again-but it sure taught me a lot. My only other suggestion is whatever you get, make sure it is from an American supplier with an American address and an American phone number. I don't care if you by the off shore stuff or not, but it sure is easier to get service from someone you can pick up the phone and call.

I didnt recommend anything, like the other 3 people who answered this post also said,(brellilli has,i see,,i think, such person has this,ect...)i said go check this name out because it has 3 planes that are arf combos that he said he was interested in refering to wingspan,style,ect... and wanted names, not actual owners or pilots or else he would have stated that he wanted actual testamonials.he did say reliable, but after reading all the gas and conversion posts about all the engine troubles that everyone is experiencing except for a (FEW) i would be confused also if i didnt convert my own engines so i dont have any problems what so ever.I mearly was stating a place to look, thats why i said to do a search.Thats why i also stated in his (size, style, dimensions),i never once stated or said i would recommend any plane or engine from anybody.

OMP has a new profile comming out that will use either an OS 1.60 or a 25cc gas. A few of my friends have OMP planes and they are top notch. I am not sure when it will be out. This winter sometime I think. It is a hybrid profile I believe. An actual fuslage, but still narrow, like the 80" they had but smaller.
