Just got my new BME 50cc with C&H ignition. I was wondering if the spark plug black wire is shielded. Also they recommend grounding the braided wire to the engine mount. Only problem the wire is too short and the mount is fiber glass. They suggest drilling and tapping the fin and attaching it there.Isn't the heat too much for the connection. The engine came with a resistor plug but no copper gasket isn't that necessary??? I logged on to their web sight to get the manual but it is too general in nature and does not have any diagrams or info regarding these questions. HELP!!

Skip

Try grounding the braid to the sparkplug with a small hose clamp around the plugs metal base [the part that you tighten with a socket]. This works very well and is more than adequate. The crimp lug to a threaded fin will work fine. Heat is not an issue for this application and it’s minimal.

If the plug is tapered and it should be and the head chamfered or countersunk the gasket is not required.

Good Luck
