How do you balance large aluminum spinners such as in the 4 to 5 inch range. They come pretty well balanced from truturn etc. When the pilot enlarges the prop openings for a larger blade, the spinner can easily get out of balance. The small magnetic balancing units are too small for the job. I've heard of putting the spinner in a large bucket of water and observing which direction it leans towards. This hasn't worked for me as I must be doing it wrong. Please help. Jim Corry

I balance my backplates with a Robart balancer and aluminum tape. With a longer metal rod you could do the whole spinner. I don't know if they're available.

The top flight magnetic balancer will balance much heavier objects if you replace the rod. The larger the rod the more the magnets work. No problem suporting 5.5 inch spinners. Handles 30" props no problem.

I use this balancer for all my giant scale rotating mass. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/PropellerBalancer.htm
