Ryobi wont start

First gasser. I fixed it and had it running good as weed eater. I have the jag kit on it all installed and ready to go. When trying to start it, it seems I am not getting any fuel draw. Spark is there, verified by holding the plug against the cylander and got spark when cranking with a starter. Later it occured to me that this carb had a primer bulb on it. That tube is still open. Does it need to be plugged, I assume so? With the jag mount, there is no way to cover the carb to choke it. Whats the best way to deal with this once its in a plane?

You are correct, getting air leak from that line.
A little blue RTV, silicone glue followed by a small machine screw, or pinch it and solder it shut.
or...piece of tubing with a stopper is least invasive.
Good Luck!

My primer is hooked up with both lines. I primed the snot out of my recent Ryobi conversion trying to get it started, and even with the electric starter didn't get a pop. The primer only fills the carb with gas -- it doesn't seem to inject any into the carb bore. Now that I've I put the modified choke blade on, it fires right up. Very easy to start now with my standard Sullivan stater. It still won't start by hand worth a flip (pun intended...)

I assume by choke plate you mean the plate over carb bore thats on the weed eater. I didnt put that on. Guess I need to, there is no way I can get my finger back there. Is there an obvious easy way to mount the primer bulb? Or is it easier to just plug the holes and not worry about it?

On my Paragon Engineering mount, there is a nice machined hole made just for the primer bulb to fit in. In a cowled installation you could put it through the side of the fuse or cowl.
