ryan trimmer (post # 1)

hi i am new here and just started a project for my boys, i was givin three ryan idc trimmers 284 models and two run, i am building a gas scooter now and have found that these trimmer engines are used for a lot of applications, the trimmers i have dont have any marking as to what cc the engines are so i took the piston from one and measured it across the top at 35 mm and the same on the stroke, can some one help me determine the cc, i think that it might be in the mid 30's but am not sure, thanks jeff

At 35 mm bore and stroke, the displacement would be 33cc.

If it's a Ryan/IDC it's likely the same basic engine as the Ryobi, which used to come in 28 cc (or was it 26?) size and is now 31cc.
Are the carb and muffler both on the rear of the engine???

i found a displacement calculator on the net and put in the deminsions of the cylinder and stroke and it gave me about the 33cc range i have not seen a ryobi with this displacement just a 31cc but if my understanding is correct the ryan line was bought by ryobi , so leads me to believe that ryan did make a larger engine than ryobi does now, cause this thing is a 33cc single ring 2 stroke long shaft clutch thanks for u guys help, jeff
