i have a hangar 9 taylorcraft, i have been looking at either a Zenoah or Fuji engine. Comments?
i am also planning to purchase the Great Planes PW Extra 300 1/4 scale. i don't know which engine may be suited best, a DA, ZDZ, or 3w?
Thanks to you who can take the time to respond.

Hi,
I'm just a few months into the gas world and really am loving it! I got a used WM extra 300 PW with the zenoah G45. This is an excellent first gas combo for me and the engine runs really good, is easy to start and has never given me problems. There is a man in our club that has the taylor craft arf with the zenoah 23 and he has a blast doing all sorts of scale manuvers and really floats in for a landing. What ever you decide, it is really fun and less equipment and less mess to clean up.

I have the gp 1/4 pw 300l with a 3w 50. I haven't flown it yet but it should be great! If you want an easy clean instalation don't get the 3w50i for the gp extra. I had to cut and hack to get the carb/ muffler/ choke and throttle set up. The rear carb on the 3w is a pain in the butt to get set, and once you get the muffler on the neddles are not accecible. So what im saying is... the 3w50i and the gp patty are not the greatest match!
Go to the thread on the gp extra to learn more...its has somethin like 2000 posts in the arf forum.

Any brand 50 gasser will be great on the GP Patty Extra.
I have a BME 50 on mine.
This plane can seem to take all sizes of engines and fly well.

Wouldn't a converted Ryobi work on the Taylorcraft?
31cc's, slender profile....plenty of umph...???
You can get a reconditioned trimmer on ebay for around 60bux, another 30 will get you a mount and hub....away you go!!!
Just a thought....
