Default Zen G26EI Sensor Assembly - Question

Have a Zenoah G26EI and I am not sure about what the manual is asking me to do regarding the Sensor Assembly (Page 3). It is asking me to affix the guage (bent metal strip) to the magneto, turn the crankshaft to top, fix the sensor on the mount while pushing it, and then remove the guage). The sensor mount has 2 bolts to affix it .... I do not see how pushing on it will in any way vary how it finally sits/is positioned. I do not understand what purpose the placement of the guage is serving. I am probably missing something ....... Thanks. Bob

Hi,

The spacer will stick magnetically to the pickup. It is placed between the pickup and sensor to ensure the correct gap.

Obviously you don't want them to hit each other, and likewise too far apart will also cause problems.

There is enough play in the sensor mounting plate to enable this.

Hope this helps

Chris

Thanks very much Chris. I did not notice the slightly elongated holes on the sensor mount that will allow for positioning. Bob

same exact question on my end , I am even more confused because the "Gauge " pictured in step three appears to be "z" shaped , my parts only show an "L"shaped piece . I cant seem to get the guage to stick to the crankshaft , so when it says turn the crankshaft until the gauge position is at the top it makes no sence because the "L" shaped guage wont stick to anything on the crankshaft ,
help please
Thanks
Lou

Position the L bracelet on the magnet that is imbedded into the crank. Let this magnet hold it in place, then do the spacing as above.

WOW ZENOAH HAS MESSED UP WITH THIS LITTLE BABY. INSTRUCTIONS ARE VAGUE AND EVERYONE LIKE MYSELF GETS CONFUSED. THE SHINY CIRCLE (NOT THE TWO HOLES) ON THE BACK OF THE CRANK IS WHERE YOU PUT THE "L" SHAPED PIECE AND IT WILL STICK. MOVE THE CRANK WITH L PIECE STILL STUCK TO IT, AROUND TILL AT THE TOP.(WHERE THE GAP IS ON THE BACK MOUNTING PLATE. ON TOP OF THE MOUNTING PLATE IS A HOLE ON EITHERSIDE. PUT THE SENCOR ON THOSE TWO HOLES PUT THE SCREWS ON THE HOLES AND PUSH THE SENCOR TO THE "L" PIECE YOU LINED UP. TIGHTEN THE SCREWS AND TAKE THE"L" PIECE BACK OFF. THATS DONE. HOPE THAT HELPS OTHERS.
