I have an airboat project going that will require some R&D in the engine department and I was wondering if you fellows here in the gasser engine forum could help me out.
This is a secret project, so without divulging too much info.... the finished boat should be around 46 " long, and 32" wide and weigh about 12 - 16 Lbs when done. I have narrowed my choices for an engine down to two possibilities.
The [link=http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=ZENE26A]Zenoah G-26[/link] (with magneto) or a [link=http://www.fuji-imvac.com/engines/fjig0024.html]Fuji Imvac bt 24a[/link]
Any input on these two engines, or other engines that will turn over a 16 x 10 2blade prop with "vigor" would be appreciated. Thank you.

Anyone? Anyone? I Really need to know what the people, familiar with this kind of engine, think of those two engines.
Are they good? Is one better than the other? How easy are they to start? Is there a brand of engine I should stay away from?

Crispy, from what I've read here, the Zenoahs seem to be a good choice for airplanes, so it should perform well in an airboat.
Are you trying to go for the speed record? Monkey won't let you, just you wait until I have the stock carb back on it, the 30kms/h record will be mine this time

I have owned fuji and zenoah. If you have to choseone of those, go with Zenoah, not because its a beter engine, but because you can find cheaper replacement parts and even aftermarket parts to mod the zenoah.

What speed record? For an airplane or an airboat?
Who is monkey?
30kms/h, is that kilometer per second,
or kilometer per hour? 30 kms = 67,108 MPH LOL. 30 kmh = 18.6 MPH. More importantly.......Is there a video, I love videos!
Here is a [link=http://rcairboats.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=968]link[/link] to a documented speed run. A guy named Nitro holds a 53.3 MPH run. I don't think I'll be hitting those speeds anytime soon. LOL
