Fabmaster911,
The break-in prop for the XYZ-26cc is a 16x8.
We suggest an APC as it will help with the idle.
The only thing I can tell you is that if he purchased his engine
from SERCE, he WILL see over 7500 out of the box.
2-3 tanks of gas, then 8000 !

I know someone is going to eat my lunch on this one BUT,
The engines HC is selling are not the same as what SERCE is selling.
Believe ME on this ! It sounds like he has a HC-26cc ??
However, if he did purchase from us, please ask him to give me a call and
we will do whatever it takes to make it right.

Mr Edge,
As far as I can tell you may be at the border line for the 50.
Check out some of the videos on our website and see if you
are close in size to some of these planes. Al Lewis's GP CAP
is heavy but fly's great. Not sure on the total weight though.

Just pulled the trigger and bought myself one of the 50cc engine for my Extreme Flight 74†Yak54. I have the plane assembled and been waiting for an engine… I bought the plane as a combo package from Brillelli in early March… hoping to fly by summer. Well, summer is almost over and I’m still waiting for my Brillelli engine. I was searching for an alternative engine and hoping that the XYZ-50cc will be a good match for the plane and salvage any flying days is left for this year.

Ron,
the past weekend I was able to get my 16 lb extra off the ground. I flew it a full throttle the whole time cuz it looked as if it would fall from the sky if I didnt. I also changed the prop to a NX 21x8 and Xoar 22x8 is on the way. During the flight the plane just seemed sluggish. I have heard these engines get stronger with time too. We fly at 4800 ft so I dont know how much of a difference the altitude is gonna make. Any ideas? Maybe a higher octane gas?

Keemos , You will have yourself a keeper. A 3D machine !

MrEdge, I would stay with the 21x8 at least until you get 2-3 gallons
of DinoJuice through it ! Also, I am getting feedback that after
total break-in, they are seeing over 300-400 more RPM.

That would be a 6 hole 3W but only use the 3 holes.

Thanks again… UPS delivered the engine as scheduled. I'll try mounting it on the Yak54 by the end of this weekend and start with the break-in.

Bobby218

I have that engine on a 25% Wagstaff...When its running in the break in period (25-1 mix) it is horribly sluggish but now I am at 40-1 and it pulls hard but not unlimited vertical...yet.. In the 3 flights with the 40-1 it has gotten more powerful with every flight. Started at 6300 rpm now hanging around 6420 with a 21x8 NX prop. When I am done with this gallon I will go to 91 octane and The AMSoil it recommends

Keemos,
How are you making out with the EF-74" Yak ?
Can't wait to see it !
I hope you will be able to make a vid for our website.

Also, the new XYZ-50HP proto showed up last week.
So far I am very impressed with the performance.
A few changes to be made but 95% percent ready.
Check our website for updates.

I’ve finished with installing the engine to the plane but haven’t gotten a chance to do the brake-in yet. I should have time over the holiday. I did make some modification to the throttle arm… the one it came with was too short to my liking. I took some pictures and will post later.

A nose landing gear tiller arm makes a great replacement throttle arm for most gas engines and gives excellent throttle resolution for 3D

Running a throttle stick with the heli style smooth ratchet helps too

Keemos,
I am really interested in the outcome of your set up...I already have the engine and I am thinking of getting the plane
Once you get everything done please let us know what the flying weight is. I currently have my 50 on a 16lb Extra 300...It pulls it but there is no way I can get it to hover

Hey Mr Edge,
Not sure if you mean the Pitts style muffler or something else.
We do have the Pitts style wrap around now:

No I mean an actual tuned pipe and muffler..The kind that runs about half the length of the plane and drastically changes the performance of engines..

I was think of doing that... but I just use an old Hitec blue servo arm that i have lying around. I mounted it on the existing arm... I saw someone here and just borrowed the idea. worked out pretty well.

MrEdge...
Put the EF 74 Yak54 on the scale over the weekend and came to total of 12.65 lb. Hope this helps.

I had the chance to go to the field yesterday and run the engine in for an hour… it started right up without any problem. I kept it at 2500 as per instruction. I stopped the engine every 15 minutes to cool down. It should be ready to maiden this weekend weather permitting.

Just got my 50cc. Need a mounting template. Or dimensions....where is the center relative to the 'ears' ? (An "X" doesn't get it)
And the carb rotating... I just flipped it around and replaced the pulse line... looks like that is all that's needed, right?
