Default G-38 Question

I have a G-38 that had a new ring and Bearings installed by Bennett - was in a corn field hiding for 3 months and took on alot of water. This engine was running fine before being lost. It now does not seem to peak out and runs a little rough. We pulling a loop it sputters some in the loop and for about 5 seconds after pulling out. The pump diaphram is probably 6 years old. Do you think that I have a fuel flow problem? I can replace the pump parts. I am getting about 7200 RPM with a Zinger 18 - 6/10 prop. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

7200 sounds pretty good to me. I would suggest rebuilding the carb. Sitting outside that long and being 6 years old, I'd say your about do. Make sure your coil is as close as possible to the flywheel to get a good spark.

flyindy: Did you get your G38 running good yet? It may need a new diaphram by now. Good Landings Captinjohn

Default G38

I put in a new Carb Kit of rubber parts and gaskets but have not yet fired up the engine. Did not see any holes in the old parts but they were at least 6 years old. Was raining yesterday and got home too late from work today. Probably this weekend. I will keep the thread posted.
