would you mind walking me thru your recomendation to reset the firewall?
If your aluminum corner braces are already mounted, I'd remove them first, then mark both sides of the engine box back 1/2" and cut it off, this will preserve the engine off-set that's built into the engine box. I like to use wood for the corner braces, wood on wood works better than aluminum on wood in my opinion. I glued the wood bracing in then used screws in pilot holes to hold them while they set, you could probably take the screws out, but I left them in, your engine box can never be too strong. The whole thing shouldn't take more than an hour to do.

Yes, I got the hop-up package for $449.

I am mistaken, it is 1/2" out to far so I need to modify the firewall to achieve the 1/8" This is my first with that type of thing so would you mind walking me thru your recomendation to reset the firewall?
Thanks,
Frank.
Frank,
If the appearance of the gap between the spinner backplate and the front of the cowl bother you, then go ahead and move the firewall.

However if it isn't too bad just leave it. Thrust and cooling will actually improve with space between the prop and the cowling.

Frank,
Check your CG before moving the firewall. If it's OK then I'd put the engine on and fly it. I spent a bunch of time movng the firewall on my Yak to reduce the gap ... hindsight being what it is I'd have prefered to spend that time flying the plane. It's not a difficult task, but one that is tedius to keep the correct engine thrust angles.

Thanks for the reply John, I'm leaning that way.

I'm all about more thrust, and more cooling sounds great right now.
Thanks,
Frank

Thanks for the advice...I'll ponder the idea over vacation.
