RE: CRRC 40cc kit
The ignition mod. has foam on the backside and I have it screwed fast with screws that are in fuel tubing for isolation, the wire tie is there just for safety... Small washers do help on the sesor screws, I use locktite and lightly tighten them and that seems to help with the brittle plastic problem... I have two of these engines and both are getting 6600 rpm using a 20x8 Zoar prop @ 1200' elevation. I ordered a Vess 20A prop and will try that. The Vess props work well on my DL50 in a GP 160 Ultimate. Hamman

Jim at Agape Racing sent me that new sensor already. You cannot get better service after the sale than that unless you live right down the street from your dealer. I'll do business with him any time!!

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Went to my LHS today and bought some 5/32" aluminum tubing and matching barbs for the fuel tank. The medium sized Tygon I bought earlier fit loosely over the tubes that came stock with the tank and I figure bigger lines = better fuel flow.
What I'm unsure of is that the guy at the LHS told me that I could use small zip ties to secure the lines, even on the inside of the tank. Will zip-tie material hold up to gasoline/oil?

I want to weigh in on the POSITIVE side. Bought from Jim at AGAPE also but have had NO porblems . Engine runs great on 18 X 10 or 20 X 8 props. Just ordered another from ABELL hobbies - $210 SHIPPED.

I agree, The problems seem to be isolated to just a few with the loose bearings, crankcase fit issues. There is very good support from the dealers mentioned on this thread selling them! If you like to tinker with engines buy the kit or if you want one tested and ready to run get one off Valley View. Heck even the god of all engines, the DA50 had problems at first. This inexpensive engine pulls my 15lb Extra around extremely well! Hamman

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
God I hate being stupid....
I got the tubes in the stopper and started soldering. Got the barbs on both ends of the carb line and one end of the other two lines which, being someone whos only just gotten proficient at soldering deans connectors, it was no easy task. I had a tough time getting the solder to wick into the small gap between the barbs and the tube. Anycrap, got all the soldering done, got the line measured and clunk on and everything zip tied before I realized I never put on the screw assembly... Wait... Then I take it all apart and go to put on the plates and screw.. Oh yeah, I bought bigger tubing and it doesnt fit in the holes in the plates!!! ARRGGHHH.. Imma have to drill em out I guess. Without a vise to hold them, it's going to be a PITA.

Lol.. I can't count how many times I've soldered deans onto lipos perfectly just to realize I'd forgotten to put heat shrink tubing on the wires.
I WILL have this engine running by the weekend!

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Hopefully I will get to try the prop later this week, sounds like I will have to do it between showers. This spring has been hard on flying with all the rain and high winds. I don't expect the Vess to be a lot better then the Zoar but with the A pitch maybe a little more thrust with a small decrease of airspeed. The plane will already fly faster then it needs to with the 20x8. I also ordered a 18x6 and a 18x8 sport for my 25cc engines, just for grins I'll try the 18x8 on the CRRC 40. Hamman

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
I got home in time this evening to try out the Vess 20A prop. Guess what, not much differant then the Zoar, it may of had a tad better pull out from my hover attempts but thats about it. The rpm of both props this evening was around 6700. It was getting dark so I only had a 10 min. flight on each prop. Hamman

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Mine looked centered and still had too much clearance to hold the rear bearing in place once the engine got heat-soaked. I'd contact the seller and get a replacement part. I've had problems with mine but the after-the-sale support so far has been really good.

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Ordered one of these engines because I liked the idea of putting one together. Received it yesterday and put it together last night. This thread helped a great deal with knowing what to watch out for. Ran it for about 10 min today and it sounds pretty good. Hope to get some time on it tomorrow and get a nice tune on it.
Thanks again!!!!

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
Jody, I finally got the engine to the field and it ran great. Thanks for the help with getting it tuned. I have it on a GP Giant Stik. Almost a gallon through it and each tank gets it running better.

RE: CRRC 40cc kit
How sensitive is the cdi to heat? I see many people mount them on front side of the firewall. I do have room to put mine on the backside of the firewall, but I hate to drill that big of a hole to get the plug wire through.
Thanks,
Ron
