Replacing the crank isn't hard. I had to replace one in my BME44... took me about 45 minutes. Call Keith and see if a crank is even avaliable or it.

Take that engine apart...you got to anyway to fix it...take crank to a machine shop and have them put it in a press and see if they can straiten it. They can check run-out very easy. May be $20 will do it Good luck Capt,n

Ya baby, if all else fails get out the sledge hammer... this is the last thing I would do to an engine.

Yeah, Baby, all you "elitists" can spend $150 for a new crank instead of $40 get one straightened...One of my straightened cranks (3 times due to crashes) is currently in the G62 belonging to Sam Stephens, from Maui, current record holder in the AT6 class in our USRA giant scale races...Oldest G62 racing, gets better all the time...
More $$ does not always equal a better outcome....

Yes if a person gets picky you can usually get the runout less than what it was when it was new. Especially in the "mass produced" engines.
Ill take any bent crank if someone wants to start throwing them away

I check many new G62 cranks, worst one was out .0025..A straightened crank will be out less than .001, then the engine is bolted to the mill table and the hub is machined to make the hub surface EXACTLY perpendicular to the crank, .0000 up and down runout....NO prop wobble at the tips...Try that on your typical mass produced engine...US 41 was a good example of what not to do (since corrected)....

you might also check the price from an echo dealer, they could also do the labor if you dont want to yourself.

Default races & engines

RCIGN1: Thanks for the reply....evrytime I read your posts, I learn a little more. Now if I can just remember 25% of what I read!!! Old age creeping in. I wonder when one of the races you talk about will come close to Mich? I think they was going to have one near Branch Mich....but canceled it. I just about flipped when I heard canceled.
