A better alternate to Tygon fuel line?
In doing my routine maintenance, I see that my gasoline fuel tank Tygon clunk line is as rigid as a piece of copper pipe. Is there an alternative to using the ever popular Tygon? Is there something better that resists becoming stiff over time with exposure to gasoline....perhaps an automotive rubber type of fuel line?
Thanks for your comments.

Neoprene fuel tubing stays flexible.
I use neoprene inside the tank and tygon outside the tank for my fill line, also the line to the carb and my vent line. It doesn't matter if those get stiff because they don't need to move around and stay soft like the clunk.
The neoprene will stay soft for several years.

I use a product called excelon. If you do a search for it, you will find many vendors and can buy in bulk or by the foot. This line does not get stiff or rigid. It stays flexible. Best stuff I have found.

Viton Rubber Tubing is the best.
About $4.50 a foot.

My catolog is a little dated. Price may be a little higher. By the foot or bulk is available.

/quote] Yes and it works fine outside the tank and last longer than tygon inside the tank. It does stiffen with time and heat.
A fairly priced product for what you get. Ace hardware use to list it for use with small engines

I use Hayes seamless neoprene inside and outside the tank http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXK824&P=ML with good results

Yes!, that is what I use also great stuff
Just make sure you get the EasyFlex the link takes you to as they make another blue line that is WAY too stiff IMHO....

I have the best results with black neoprene for inside the tank and Aerotrend easyflex (blue line) for outside the tank. The black neoprene can sit in a tank for years and it does not get stiff at all. The Aerotrend easyflex also works inside the tank, but it is a little more rigid than I prefer. I still use tygon for the vent line from the tank to the outside of the airplane so that the vent line is a different color than the fill line or the line from the tank to the carb.
