One piece metal motor mount
Does RCGF have any suggestions on where to obtain a one piece metal motor mount to fit the 15cc-20cc engines also the rear exhaust model. Metal mounts would be a big improvement over the two piece fiber mount supplied with the motor. I hope to install a 15cc or 20 cc in a eight foot w/s Telemaster.

Here's the metal mount myself and I believe others like as well. The 15's & 20's don't need anything too fancy. 1.20 mounts, any of them, work fine in my experience. Will hold up well until they hit the ground hard. Even then they may surprise you....

Agreed. I wouldn't use a solid aluminum mount unless it's got some type of shock absorber like the Dubro mounts. They aint cheap though.http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD633
I used a set of nylon mounts I had laying around from a Great Planes Revolver when I mounted my RCGF 26ccBM. They are the .60-1.20 size mounts. I used them instead of mounts that came with the motor because they were longer and I needed some more length to get the proper spinner to cowl distance. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...P?I=LXJ773&P=8

12 FT telecaster. That is a lot of wing and the wind always blows here in Midland Texas. Yep I'm still a kicking Joe and I have some winter projects waiting to be finished. Looks like RCGF engines are doing well. Lots to chose from. Wishing you and all the guys here good flying and happy landings. Just looked back on the form and could not find the post I replied to. Maybe I was having a dream but someone was saying they wanted to put a 20 or 30 in a 12ft telecaster.

I am looking for help sizing an engine for a few planes I plan to setup this winter. Leaning towards RCGF because of the value and good reviews I have read.
1st plane is an Aviator Pro ARF. 77" wingspan, 775sq/in area, 7lbs flying weight .60 glow size with 15x8 prop recommended for electric use. Its basically a 60 size high wing. Will the RCGF 15cc BM be big enough? Go with the 20 for fun? 21cc twin too big?
2nd plane is a Giant Stik ARF. 83" wingspan, 1491sq/in area, 11-13lbs flying weight, 20-30cc gas and a recommended prop of 15x8 and bigger. The plane reviews say it flies great with a 30cc but one guy was saying he was going to replace his 30 with a 20cc. With all that wing area I was thinking a 30cc single or possibly a little twin.
I dont do 3D, just normal fly around and have fun.
How much smoother are the twins?
Will they be gentler on the airframes?
How much harder are they to tune and keep running?
I have been reading and researching engines for a week, and in the words of Vinnie Barbarino, I am so confused.
This will be my first gasser also, but I am familiar with tuning a chainsaw.
Thanks for any advice,
Cjkuehl.

Theres 2x GP stiks , I think around that size at my club . One has a OS 160 2stroke glow and the other a OS 33 gasser . I wouldnt put anything smaller than a 30cc gasser if it were me . These guys dont do 3d either . Cheers the pope

Thanks the pope! That is exactly the feedback I am looking for.
So now on the Stik, we are talking 32cc single, 30cc twin or even a 40cc twin. How heavy can I go?
I am a Beemer guy at heart and sold my Bike years ago but still love me some boxer engines.
Cheers back at you.

Hi Cjkuehl,
Ok for the 77" span plane the RCGF 15cc BM would be a good fit for it. Don't be afraid to hang some prop on these smaller RCGF gas engines. I would go with a 16x8 if will clear.
As for the 83" stik, way back when we first tested the new 32cc RM I stuck it on a big stik and at half throttle it would still go straight up!! So I would look at maybe using the RCGF 20cc SBM or the 26cc BM.
The twins are always more smooth then the singles. What you need to do is look at your bottom line first. If that does not matter then go for the "bling"!! You can be the first at your field to put a small twin on your plane.
I am mostly just keep it sample. I would save the twins for the scale planes and have fun with the "FUN" planes. That is my two cents....
