Default quadra 35 replacement

The 80" profile with a slightly underpowered and overweight quadra 35 did a deadstick/nose plant while hovering at 40 feet. Now the flywheel is running crooked to the crankshaft and the small plastic cover under the flywheel is loose. I think it's time to replace the engine (after refreshing my building skills). What would you recommend with a little more power and less weight. (this is one of the original Q35 engines but I have not wieghed it it's heavy)

Also, how is the flywheel removed? I want to see what the problem is and try to repair the engine, but don't wanna spend much doing it.

Simplest is a Quadra 42, bolt on replacement. Add Ei to make it lighter.
In reality almost any thing over 40cc will be lighter and have more power than a Q35

TKG has a good idea there,, but if you want something that cost a bit more get a MVVS 40cc, even a used MVVS 35 should be more powerful (and lighter) than your old Quadra 35..

Seriously, a good 26cc engine (Ralph Cunningham @ RC Ignition's Zenoah 26cc Lite) might be able to haul your model around as well as the Q35. I've owned and flown nearly a half a dozen Q35 engines and they will always hold a special place in my heart, but moving on might be a good idea.

I do have to admit that TKG's suggestion does sound like a good one - the Q42.

Of course, you could always send the engine to Ralph or TKG and have them fix it.

Just received a DL50 to replace the quadra. Jeez, this thing is big. I doubt Scotty will ever have to say "she canna take nomore captain" unless he's talking about the airframe..............
