Default Any way to test Ignition unit?

Hey everyone. I have a Venom 45 gas engine. Have not been able to get it to start. Checked that the timing is correct. Getting gas, and not flooding. I know the ignition unit has been in a crash. Is there anyway to test the ignition to see if it is working? Thanks!

Yep, pull the plug, reconnect it to the secondary/spark plug wire, ground the plug and turn over your engine. If you see a blueish white spark across the plug gap you have spark - but that doesn't mean it's sparking when the piston wants it to. It is a start though.

pull the spark plug out and then plug it back into the ingition and lay the plug on the motor were u can see the bottom of the plug. spin the engine over very slowly with ignition turned on and see if it sparks that plug.

Thanks man. Tried that the other day. No spark at all. Didn't know if that was a good diagnosis, I've been told that on these engines, you can't see the spark. I found that hard to believe.

Here is a neat little tool for testing ignitions, I think it will work with RC Xel also.
