Default DA 50 Ignition unit

Hi everybody,

I think the ignition unit (or parts of it...) on my DA 50 has gone bad..will I be able to use an ignition unit from a DL 50...or similar? Quite a hefty pricetag on a new original DA ignition unit...

Thanks

DA engines are timed different than the RC xel ignitions, RC Xel is timed at 28-30 deg before top dead center and DA is timed at about 3mm before top dead center and uses a different hall sensor.

You can use a RC xel if you re time and use there sensor.

We tried just that a couple of weeks ago. Its not plug and play, but very close. the RCexl hall sensor will work nicely on DA if you flip the sensor upside down. (or actually remove the magnet, flip it and re-install, which is alot harder)

Also a word of caution, the sensor housing from RCexl kit for DL wont fit the DA's original sensor housing screw locations.

You can modify it or fashion a new sensor housing that will fit the DA's screw locations and then you can slide in the hall sensor of RCexl ignition unit.

Just watch for the magnet position and the hall sensor position on DA's original sensor housing - compansate for any difference while mounting the new housing and you should be fine.

It sounds like a lot of work but actually its 10 minutes work..
