Default Stock mufflers

Making a new 2 piece cowl and was wondering what would change if i shortened the exhaust pipes. I have never done this before but I do know all about the header length and what that changes on on tuned pipes. I would think that it might give a little less back pressure giving it a little more high end power and lose a little low end torque.

And it would be about 1 - 1.25"

and it is on the DA 100
Mejzlik 28x10 prop

thanks

come on guys

still have the cowl off and it would be easy to chop them right now, but I need to do it before this weekend when I put it back together and go fly it some more

I guess if it changes anything I can always patch on right

What exaust system are you running?? Is it a "tuned" system or just the small expansion chambers that bolt direct to the jug??

If your talking Johnson or Supersonics you will see no difference in cutting the tubes back. I have done this a bunch with "0" issues.

Hey,
I just went though this and called DA directly. Turns out you can cut away (Stock mufflers) to your hearts content. The only thing that suffers is the tone of the motor, and I could get louder if you go really far. This could be a concern for contests that have restrictions. They told me that you could cut the stacks off totally if you want, the performance and reliability of the motor will not change.

OK sounds good
they are the in cowl stock mufflers and they just stick out of the cowl pretty far and I was wanting to knock about an inch off of each one (about 4-5" long right now)

thanks guys

I will go cut and then put it all back together and go fly it tonight or tomorrow if it doesn't stop raining
