Warm up your engine before tuning but .... ?

So often we are reminded to warm up our engines before attempting to tune them or even fly, but in reality how warm should they be. My question is for how long should we run them and at what rpm to get them really warm so that they are ready to work.

just run it at quarter throttle for 20-25 seconds, then go to full throttle for a couple of seconds to clear up the crankcase. It should be hot enough to tune properly. but you dont have to do this every time you tune.

I run mine just above idle about 2000 rpm and when I'm able to go WOT and then bring it back to idle and it doesn't hesitate then it's warmed up enough to fly.
