Default G-38 Throttle Spring

Hello!

I'm new to big gas engines and have a question.

Can you cut or remove the throttle spring on a G-38? I'm afraid it'll take too much torque to pull it into the full open position. I can see the spring and it would be very easy to clip with some wire cutters, I just don't know if it will have a bad effect on anything else.

Thanks!

You can cut the hook and leave the spring in there no problem.

You don't need to cut the hook. Just take some needle nose and unhook the tang from the stop.

do not remove the spring entirely or the butterfly will hang on you.

Just to be clear for others reading. When I said cut the hook.. I was talking about the part of the spring that hooks onto the stop. So like the 1/8" end so it can't hook on anymore.

Leave the spring on and don't do anything if the spring force isn't too much. It's a great safety feature.

I could have sworn I posted on this already. Wonder if it got deleted? Any idea Jake?

Joe, I saw you as a last responder and tried to read it 4 times yesterday but it didn't show up. I assumed there was some kind of glitch.

I am the moderator in this forum. I can see all edits and any posts that were moved or deleted. Jake can't see what I see in this forum. He moderates the Giant Scale forums. He can see all and do all in those forums. I can't see any more than the average user in that forum. A moderator is not a moderator in ALL forums. We have no power outside the forum we are assigned too.

Joe, I see no other posts by you on this thread. Must have been a server glitch yesterday.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'm going to try leaving the spring in place. If that doesn't work, I'll just bend it back. Thanks!

I removed my spring on my G-38 for the two years I have had the engine with no problems.
