Default Is this normal on DA-85?

I just noticed while handling this motor that there is ia piece of material...maybe plastic, in the hole below the LSN. Pic one shows it witht the piece down inside and pic 2 shows the piece in question covering the hole. It does not look easy to remove but it free floats up and down on it's own.

Anyone know?

Is it connected to anything as it floats up and down? Can't see from your pic's...there's no view of the top of that pocket it's in.

There is nothing attached to it. Just a piece of plastic in there. Here is about the best pic of the top I can take.

Not sure if it is normal for a DA85 but it is normal for the Walbro carb. It's a piece of nylon thread locking material that is used to keep an idle speed stop screw in place in the carb. It should be able to be removed through the small hole drilled perpendicular to the low speed needle and the hole in your pictures. You will likely need to remove the low speed needle to provide clearance to get it out. If it can't come out on it's own, I would just leave it, won't hurt anything.

Hey thanks for the input. Was just looking at other walbro carbs I have and none of them are similar enough to compare.

Appreciate it,
Kevin

Why don't you just call DA and ask them (after all it is their engine they should know) instead on asking us?
We might tell you something wrong and then you will have to sent the engine back for repair.

Or, DA's rep could come on here and look at the pics which would be more helpful than talking over the phone

Becaue I like you guy's...... Whynot poll the folks who use them? Isn't that the idea of this forum? Yes I could spend an hour on the phone with DA explaining where the hole is and what kins of material is in there and how it moves, and what color shirt I am wearing...I got my answer here pretty quick while doing other things. It is not a DA issue....yet a walbro issue. Yes I know it is on a DA engine and DA is responsible for the final assy of their engines and the components they use. No biggie.

Thanks for the input fella's,
Kevin

Isn't that just the idle stop screw location?

It doesn't matter if it is in there or not. At one time there was a screw with a dome on there used to adjust the idle. 3W still leaves the tilison one there, however most modlers use the servo to set the idle and remove the screw so they can kill the engine with trim.

my 2 cents

I'm concur with jedjody. It's part of the idle stop screw assembly and serves no purpose once the idle stop screw is removed. It's not associated with any other operational part of the carb and won't be a problem.

Its for the idle stop screw that we remove at the factory. I just checked a new one and there is nothing in there so I am not sure what the white plastic is. The hole does not go to the inside of the carb so I would just leave it or pic out the plastic that is in there.

Another thing I see is that you have aluminum carb bolts. We have had a few engines that have sheard these bolts and we have steel replacements for it. If you can send me your address I can send you the replacement bolts or if your not comfortable replacing them you can send the engine in and we will do it for you at no cost.
